Three days into the fire at Gulshan-1 DNCC market, BNP today termed it as sabotage and blamed the ruling party for its hands behind the fire. “It was an act of sabotage and the ruling party’s link was behind the fire,” BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed made the allegation at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this noon. He called upon traders and shop owners of the market to remain alert so that none can evict them. A probe body was formed as eyewash and business leaders have already rejected it, the BNP leader said. He also demanded a transparent investigation and exemplary punishment of those were involved in the fire incident. A devastating fire broke out at the two-storey Dhaka North City Corporation market in the wee hours of Tuesday. Over 300 shops were gutted and a portion of the market collapsed on the impact of the fire. No one was injured or killed in the fire.
